The controversial gang rape documentary India doesn't want anyone to see

The Indian government has promised retaliation against the BBC in response to its release of a documentary in which one of the perpetrators of a fatal gang rape blames the victim for the attack.


India's Daughter, by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin, centers on a gruesome 2012 incident in which a medical student was fatally gang raped and beaten by six men on a New Delhi bus. The assault galvanized international attention and prompted public outcry over the country's treatment of women.



The film was set to air this Sunday in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden and India to coincide with International Women's day. But after the Indian government tried to block its broadcast with a court order, the network moved the release date in Britain and online forward to Wednesday night. Read more...
